Building Web Sites is easy,
the hard part is getting started. Because hundreds if not thousands
of people get into Web Building every day, I decided to go ahead
and give some pointers regarding how to get started in Web Building.
Let's get started.
Pointer 1 - Come up with a name
Before you do anything, it is extremely important that you do the
following:
-
Think of a name for your web site.
-
Check to see if that name is available here.
-
Register the name if it's available.
Once you secure a domain name, you can move on to the next step.
Pointer 2 - Get a Web Host
Now that you have a domain name secured, you need to get a web
server where you can upload your web site. There are thousands of
web hosts out there and the services and prices they offer vary
from one host to another. You should select a web host that best
suits your needs. For instance, if you are planning to use tons
of graphics on your site, then you'll need a web host that offers
a good amount of disk space (some web hosts offer 50MB and others
offer 350MB), or if you are going to use a lot of scripting then
you need to make sure your web host supports technologies and scripting
languages such as ASP, Perl, PHP, etc. You get the point. Also,
some Web Hosts will register your domain name for free when you
sign up for their services.
Pointer 3 - Get an HTML Editor
If you don't know HTML, or if you know HTML but don't want to spend
hours hand-coding, you need to get an HTML Editor.
There are many editors out there. Professional Web Builders like
to use tools such as Dreamweaver and HomeSite, however these tools
can be quite expensive. If you feel that you don't need anything
fancy or if you need a powerful editor but don't have the resources
to get one, you might want to consider 1st
Page2000, CoffeeCup
HTML Editor++, or Arachnophilia,
they are all excellent tools!
