Find Beta testers
First of all, you need to find beta testers for your site - Ideally,
the beta testers should be similar to your site's target audience.
You can create an on-line application (using Forms) where potential
beta testers can register, or you can go to Web Discussion Forums
where you can invite users to beta test your site. Whichever way
you decide to "recruit" beta testers, make sure that they
meet a certain criteria, such as: Are they similar to the site's
target audience? Speed at which they connect to the Internet. What
Browsers do they use, etc.
Get feedback
As always, listen to what the beta testers tell you. It
is extremely important that you monitor their feedback because it
represents what your site's audience will think about your site.
Not paying attention to their comments and suggestions really defeats
the purpose of having a beta test program.
Also, make the necessary corrections/modifications to your site
swiftly (if they are necessary) - You don't want to be overwhelmed
with suggestions because then you may overlook important details
and issues that need to be taken care of.
It is best that you create an e-mail address where the beta testers
can send their feedback. Something like feedback@yoursite.com
or beta@yoursite.com. This will make
it easier for you to keep track of the feedback your receive.
