FrontPage Vs. Dreamweaver

Question
Sian from Finland writes:
"I need to buy an HTML Editor quickly, my options are FrontPage and Dreamweaver. Which of the two is better?"

It all depends on what your needs are. FrontPage and Dreamweaver are two of the most powerful HTML Editors (WYSIWYG) in the market. Both FrontPage and Dreamweaver are very flexible and both have powerful features that help even the novice web builder create complicated and professional looking web pages.

FrontPage is usually the editor of choice of novice web builders (some professional web builders also use FP) because of it's ease of use, it's features and the little time it takes to learn how to use it. Most professional web builders though, make Dreamweaver their editor of choice because of the powerful features and greater flexibility it offers. Dreamweaver itself is aimed more towards the professional web builder than the novice web builder. Also, learning how to use Dreamweaver is not as easy as learning how to use FrontPage.

As with any HTML Editor, keep in mind that there are advantages and disadvantages that must be weighed. Again, it all depends on what your needs are.

The bottom line: If you are looking for a robust HTML Editor and have the time to learn how to use it, Dreamweaver should be your editor of choice.
