Compression File Formats
There are several compression file formats out there.
Such formats allow users to archive/compress files to a fraction
of their original byte size. For instance, a 50MB file or group
of files, can be compressed down to a 5MB file.
Compressed file size pretty much depends on the file
compression program you use. Among the most popular compression
file formats are: Zip, ARJ, TAR, LZH, ARC, CAB, Z, TGZ, TAZ, RA,
etc.
Since Zip file format is widely used on the Internet,
we will learn how to open (Unzip) Zip files.
What
is a Zip file?
Zip files are compressed files. Such files are usually
used to distribute and or store files/data, also, Zip files
allow quick and efficient file transfer.
Though there are several prgrams/utilities that are
capable of Unzipping files efficiently, only one program
stands out. That program is WinZip.
WinZip is a Zipping and Unzipping utility that supports
Zip file formats as well as TAR, MIME, BinHex, CAB, and a few other
formats.
WinZip comes with a WinZip wizard that automates the
most common tasks involving Zip files. With WinZip you can also
point-and-click, drag-and-drop files for viewing, extracting, running,
