These
days people are just as busy downloading stuff from the net as they
are writing e-mail.
Today you can download just
about anything from the net. You can download games, software patches,
trial versions of any kind of software, utility programs, and the
list goes on. Sure, downloading is fun but did you know it can even
be more fun if you really know what you are doing?
Behold! Tips to master the art
of downloading.
Make a New Directory
Before you download anything,
make a new directory in your C: drive for all the files you'll be
downloading, it might be a good idea to name the new directory Downloads,
this way you'll know where the files you download from the net are.
Test the files you download
Ok, by now you've probably found
the files you wanted to download and saved them on your Downloads
directory. The next and most important part of the downloading process
is the following: Check all the files you download for viruses.
Many people forget that the
threat of downloading a virus is very real. If you want to save
yourself headaches and of course money then check every single file
for viruses. "But checking each and every single file for viruses
is going to take too much time" you might say. Not really.
You see, the greatest thing
about saving all the files you download in your Downloads directory
is that instead of checking every single file for viruses all you
have to do is make your Anti-virus software scan the Downloads directory
for viruses, this scan will cover all the files located in the directory.
Nice and simple isn't it?
