In this tutorial you'll learn how to create transparent GIFs with
Adobe PhotoShop. To get started, fire up PhotoShop and create a
new image - of any size, by going to File>New - make sure
the Transparent option from the Contents area is checked.
Now, select the Type tool and add some text to the image
- do not create new layers. When you are done, you should get something
like this.

Next, go to Select>All and then Edit>Copy,
and close the image without saving it. Now go to File>New
to create a new image. Once the new image appears, go to Edit>Paste.
Go to File>Export>GIF89a Export and select Adaptive
from the drop down Palette menu - you can also change the
mumber of colors from the Colors drop down menu if you prefer.
Finally, select the color that matches the background of your web
page from the Transparency Index Color by clicking on the gray
box. Click on OK to accept the export options and save the image
in your hard drive. The results should look something like this.

To help you see the effect, I've placed the image in a Table with
an orange background.
