How to create Brushes - PhotoShop

By Eddy R.

PhotoShop comes loaded with many cool brushes, yet did you know that you can create your own? Yes, creating brushes for PhotoShop is possible, and easy too. Let's get started and create a brush of our own right now!

You know the drill; fire up PhotoShop, create a new image and create a new Layer. Next, place some text or draw an image on the new layer - the text or the image you create will be your brush. For this example I decided to create the following image.

Step 1

Now go to Select>All then go to Windows>Show Brushes and select Define Brush from the "options" arrow from the top-right-hand corner of the Brushes window. Like so.

Select Define Brush

Once you select Define Brush, your new brush will be added to the Brushes Palette.

New Brush Added

That's it! Now you can go ahead and make use of your brand new brush.
